At a briefing with a Chinese think tank, a journalist asked a former Chinese ambassador to India, “Sir, what are your views on the Maoists? The group says they are inspired by the ideology of Mao Zedong.” The former Chinese bureaucrat quipped, “We don’t support these people who claim to be followers of Mao Zedong. Mao Zedong had nothing to do with these insurgents. And you can’t blame China for anyone who is killing people in the name of Mao in other countries. Using this logic, can you blame Germany for the spread of Marxism?”
