Bureaucrats appear to be suffering an identity crisis as a result of the Adarsh Society scandal. Now that the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has filed FIRs against retired and serving civil servants in connection with Adarsh, those who are not involved in the issue are anxious to underline the fact. In private conversation, they are careful to clarify that they are not involved in any kind of scams, let alone Adarsh, but they do question CBI’s actions against their colleagues, given that it was not in a position to decide the title of the land on which the controversial building has been constructed.
