Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Minority Affairs Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi held a feast on Tuesday afternoon to celebrate Id-ul-Zuha. Those who came calling included some members of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the Congress, though most senior BJP leaders and Cabinet ministers skipped the event.
On Monday, Naqvi's party, the BJP, had given a call to celebrate an "eco-friendly" Id. Those who landed at Naqvi's new residence on Safdarjung Road partook of sumptuous goat meat preparations.
In Lucknow, the Awadh unit of the Muslim Rashtriya Manch, an outfit affiliated to the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh, cut a five-kilo goat-shaped cake to mark the festival, also known as Bakr-Id. Workers of the Manch said they had decided to do away with serving biryani, offering seviyan and dahi vada instead to friends and relatives.
