At the launch of Stand Up India, Prime Minister Narendra Modi was all praise for Finance Minister Arun Jaitley. While addressing the crowd, he spent at least five minutes speaking about the work Jaitley and his ministry had done.
"Traditionally, common people have had nothing to do with the finance ministry," Modi said. "The only people who had access to it were industrialists and people from the markets. But I must commend this finance ministry for the work it has done - for reaching out to the masses and successfully implementing many of the government's schemes."
A few months ago there were talks of a Cabinet reshuffle and some media reports, quoting sources inside the finance ministry, had said that Jaitley would be moved out of the ministry.
