It’s unclear where the investigation, if any, into BSP chief Mayawati’s multi-crore garland made of currency notes in the denomination of Rs 1000 is headed, but the party has done its best to cover its bases. A large number of business establishments in various UP towns were approached by BSP workers for donations to mark the 25th anniversary of the BSP. There was no coercion and, in a number of cases, businessmen were asked if their names could be entered as donors — in which case, IT sleuths will have a tough time ascertaining which businessmen actually gave the amount of money that BSP officials claim they did.
