The winds of political change are blowing in West Bengal and not even Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee’s pet project, the Kolkata Book Fair, could escape it. The 35th edition of the book fair saw Trinamool Congress’ mouthpiece Jago Bangla bagging a spacious stall at a central location and CPI(M)’s news daily Ganashakti’s stall pushed to a remote corner. Sources say the organisers later had to mollify the Left cadres by enlarging the Ganashakti stall area by narrowing an adjacent stall publishing Rabindranath Tagore’s works. Small wonder that even former Left loyalists are shifting gears as the state moves towards election in some months.
