The growing demand for easy-to-hail transportation has prompted a Bengaluru-based taxi aggregator to launch a cell phone application-based autorickshaw service in the city. However, if a commuter tries to connect with the operator over the phone, her calls might go unanswered. She is likely to get a text message: "Sorry, we missed your call. But you can book an AC taxi, starting Rs 49. Get the app." Starting-up pangs or carefully orchestrated marketing?
