Omar Abdullah, who on Monday became the country’s youngest chief minister, is going to be different from his predecessors in many ways. To begin with, his wife Payal is a business woman in her own right and their children are enrolled in a prestigious school in the capital. Sources close to the family say they are unlikely to shift base to Kashmir and will remain in the capital, for Payal’s business as well as for the children’s education. Omar will, therefore, divide his time between his work and family, shuttling between the national capital and his state.
