Minister of State for Urban Development Saugata Ray is certainly not the hot favourite of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee when it comes to being rewarded for political loyalty. But, nevertheless, it was Ray who Banerjee picked for an important assignment, after her party came to power. Ray was asked to hold special classes for 148 Trinamool Congress MLAs to teach them various aspects of the Assembly and its functions. Ray, a former teacher in one of Kolkata’s reputed colleges, enjoyed his brief stint with his original profession as he lectured his party colleagues divided in two batches, over two days.
