Explanations mean nothing

When the Railways’ demand for grants was passed in the Lok Sabha with a very small number of treasury bench MPs, it was discovered that Minister of State for Human Resource Development D Purandeshwari was absent. She went to meet Finance Minister and Leader of the Lok Sabha Pranab Mukherjee to offer an explanation: “Sir, I want to explain my situation and the reasons for my absence.” Mukherjee snapped at her and, saying “Absence of MPs might even lead to fall of the government one day. What will I do with your explanation then?”
