Bajaj Auto Managing Director Rajiv Bajaj has taken after his father when it comes to gaffes. While talking of his company’s car that would be launched in 2010, he said the car wouldn’t go up in flames “here” and “there”, a reference to some Nanos catching fire. He later added that Nano was the best in the country in terms of carbon dioxide emissions — he was speaking at a function for the launch of BS-III compliant three wheelers. Bajaj then had a dig at Harley Davidson and the US government’s decision to allow imports of Indian mangoes before the import of Harleys into India were cleared: “Indian two wheeler manufacturers make the most environment friendly bikes and, therefore, when high-end global brands come to India they have to barter with mangoes because they can’t meet Indian standards.”
