Ravi Shankar Prasad, minister for communications and IT, had unusual advice for the loss-making BSNL. Lauding the state-run telecom firm's efforts to provide services during emergencies such as the recent earthquake in Nepal, the cyclone in Andhra Pradesh and floods in Jammu & Kashmir, the minister said if the PSU could offer such stellar services during a calamity, it should work hard to provide even better services in normal times. Subscriber complaints about poor customer support and quality of services are a regular feature in many circles of BSNL. Prasad was addressing a conference on the achievements of his ministry in the first year of the Narendra Modi-led government.
