News that the controversial Member of Parliament from the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), Sakshi Maharaj, had made another outrageous statement led to much anger on social media - but also more than a few laughs. The godman-turned-politician, addressing a conclave of other spiritual leaders, said that Hindu women should have at least four children - two for themselves, one to defend the borders, and one to "join us", i.e., go into the spirituality sector. Several people pointed out that Sakshi Maharaj may have had a different view of female duty had he been a woman. But most of the reaction comprised jokes - many of which took off on the slogans associated with the BJP and Narendra Modi's campaign. One of them was: "Bachche din aane waale hai", a take-off on Modi's promise of "Achche din", or better days. And then there was "Ab ki baar, bachche chaar."
