In a mail to prospective voters, Swaraj India, a political newbie launched by analyst-turned-politician Yogendra Yadav and lawyer Prashant Bhushan, is seeking funds to fight the Delhi MCD elections scheduled for April 23. The party, that describes itself as “a start-up with a vision and a concept”, appears to follow a path similar to that of the Aam Aadmi Party. The mail says, “Many of the path breaking and empowering ideas implemented by us (such as overwhelming nomination of Youth Leaders and Women of Substance) is already ensuring that we set the agenda for alternative politics... We have some of finest volunteers and leaders. But we do not have the money required to contest this election, even at the most modest scale. Hence, this request for your contribution.”
