Bahujan Samaj Party MP Ganga Charan was blasting the government for not providing enough electricity to Opposition-ruled states. Just as he was doing this, there was a power failure in the Rajya Sabha and the emergency lights came on. Not surprisingly, he used this to his advantage and said to the Rajya Sabha chairman, “Chairman Sir, see what has happened in the Rajya Sabha. Even Parliament is facing a power crisis. One can easily imagine the plight of the common people if their elected representatives are facing the heat.” Fortunately, power supply to the Rajya Sabha was resumed within five minutes. By then, however, the MP had made his point.
