Air India recently found itself the recipient of some unexpected private sector support when Kingfisher Airline Chief Vijay Mallya jumped to the state-owned airline’s defence at a Parliamentary Consultative Committee meeting. Such meetings are usually rife with MPs complaining about Air India’s service and coverage. But it was Mallya who pointed to the holes in their arguments. “Before making requests for Air India to fly to the destinations the honourable MPs want, they should also look at the viability of routes,” he told them.
