The Bharatiya Janata Party is the least worried about Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav distributing mobile phones in the state. With the UP Assembly elections due early in 2017, Yadav hopes the distributed mobile phones would help his party connect with the electorate and spread the message of the developmental work carried out during his tenure as CM. But the Bharatiya Janata Party boasts of a well-oiled and battle-ready social media cell. “Let the Samajwadi Party government distribute any number of mobile phones,” a top BJP leader said. “It would only help us reach voters. Trust us to inundate mobile phone users with our WhatsApp messages.”
