In an election season, Bengal politics is in a churn not the least because political leaders and workers at all levels are shifting loyalties to suit their convenience. So much so that Trinamool Congress leader Humayun Kabir has suggested to the party leadership that all party cadres in his district, Murshidabad, should be given an ID card, signed by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, to help him identify his own party members. Kabir, of course, has good reason to find it difficult to keep a tab on members of his own cadre since he was a Congressman until last year but later shifted loyalties to join the Trinamool Congress.
