At a recent SAARC meeting on climate change hosted by FICCI and the Ministry of Environment and Forests, FICCI Secretary General Amit Mitra narrated an anecdote to introduce Environment Minister Jairam Ramesh. He said the minister’s speech on an earlier occasion was so eloquent that the Pakistani delegates present there wanted to take him back to their country as their minister. Ramesh, who spoke next, told the audience that Mitra had left the story incomplete. Responding to the Pakistan request, the minister said, the Indian delegates present had replied that they would only be too happy to see him being taken away from India.
