Narendra Modi may not be particularly enamoured of the mainstream media but he has embraced social media with wholehearted enthusiasm. The prime minister already communicates to the world at large via Facebook, Twitter, Google+, StumbleUpon, Pinterest, Tumblr, LinkedIn and Flickr, among others. On Wednesday, he added to his social media repertoire by joining Instagram, the online mobile photo-and video-sharing link. His first post was a photograph he clicked of the venue of the 25th Asean Summit at Nay Pyi Taw, Myanmar. "Hello World! Great being on Instagram. My first photo...this one from ASEAN Summit," Modi tweeted on his Twitter handle @narendramodi. He also tweeted a photograph of himself, taken by someone else, taking a picture of the venue. Meanwhile, foreign ministry spokesman Syed Akbaruddin followed up by tweeting a photograph (above) of Modi striding down a red carpet to attend the summit with a suitably muscular caption: "Striding confidently to engage the ASEAN".
