West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has been called the "symbol of intolerance" by the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M), the main Opposition party in the state, for terming the results of the Bihar Assembly polls as the "defeat of intolerance". CPI-M politburo member Mohammad Salim said Banerjee had no right to speak on intolerance as she was the "symbol of intolerance" in the state. Soon after the Bihar results were declared on Sunday, delivering a decisive victory to Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's Grand Alliance, Banerjee had tweeted: "Congratulations Nitish Kumarji, Laluji and your full team …Victory of tolerance, defeat of intolerance." In 2010, too, Banerjee had been one of the first politicians to wish Kumar on his landslide victory. Kumar was then part of the coalition with the BJP.
