Long before it became mandatory for judges to declare their assets to the Chief Justice of India, or the current controversy erupted over their requiring to put the information in the public domain, Justice Santosh Hegde started the practice of giving out his details in public.
He did this at the Supreme Court before he retired, then as the head of the Telecom Dispute Settlement and Appellate Tribunal and, after his term was over there, at the Karnataka Lokayukta. The website has details of his bank FDs, the cost of the flat he bought, how he financed it and even the rent (and advance deposit) he got on this flat along with the name of the tenant.
