Questioning Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “pro-poor” politics, Rashtriya Janata Dal chief Lalu Prasad took to Twitter to say that the hike in LPG prices by Rs 86 per non-subsidised cylinder was tantamount to picking the pocket of the common man. Joining him, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala said it was the sixth such LPG price increase by the Modi government. He also said the Centre was hurting the poor by imposing a Rs 150 charge for making more than four cash withdrawals a month from banks. Explaining his point, Surjewala said if a poor man withdrew even small amounts of money, he would end up paying a tax, which would pinch him.
