Andrew Holland in his interview with Palak Shah made some telling comments on the Indian economy (“You’ll have to re-tell the India story...it’s a broken picture now,” June 6). The biggest hurdle is lack of reforms and it seems the industry is getting tired of the all-talk-no-action approach of the political class. When Manmohan Singh took over as PM, one felt he would hasten reforms that were long overdue. But his first term was a disappointment since he could not even bring administrative reforms that he was personally advocating. As for his second term, the less the better. What’s worse is that the government is only busy defending itself in various scams — 2G, Commonwealth Games, Adarsh or now “Coalgate”. In such a situation, can one blame the business community for being morose?
