The report “CWG rules changed for Swiss timing” (December 20) was interesting. However, allow us some additional remarks: Swiss Timing is the world’s largest timing company, capable of delivering timing or scoring services for every sports discipline, developed in accordance with the respective sports federations. It has the highest technological standards a timing and data-handling company can have today. Added to its unblemished reputation, its faultless track report and the experience acquired in over 40 years as official timekeeper and data-handler, the company offers a state-of-the-art package that countless organisers of international sports events wish to exploit in favour of the athletes.

It is comprehensible that organisers wish to offer their athletes state-of-the art technology at sports events, especially since Swiss Timing Ltd is the reference, having done more than 25 Olympic Games.

It is for the reasons mentioned above that Swiss Timing has always respected and will continue to respect the bidding procedure of each event, as it did at the Commonwealth Games in India in October 2010. Also, for these reasons, Swiss Timing Ltd would never tend to improper behaviour before or during a bidding process, nor would it risk its impeccable reputation during the delivery of a service.

It does certainly not help to blame Swiss Timing Ltd for the general chaos of the organisational structure of the Commonwealth Games, nor will it contribute to enlighten the obvious confusion in the clean-up of the Commonwealth Games.

As far as we know, the bidding process for the invited timing and data-handling companies was and is transparent. Again, there is not and never was any doubt that Swiss Timing Ltd acted in a professional and transparent way, and we reject even the slightest suspicion of wrong-doing on behalf of Swiss Timing Ltd.
