This refers to the advertisement issued by the Central Board of Excise and Customs, Government of India, in this newspaper. Such advertisements should be condemned since they are a waste of taxpayers’ hard-earned money. On the one hand, the government is defrauding citizens by way of scams, high inflation and taxes and on the other, these advertisements showcase the merits of the taxes and duties collected, goading us to pay more taxes. Isn’t it Ironical? Why does the government showcase its duties and responsibilities as achievements? It’s farcical for the government to issue such advertisements. There should be a blanket ban on such advertisements. The next general elections will prove that we are not as naïve and gullible as the government wants us out to be.
