With reference to the column, "Bird? Plane? Or RBI governor" (November 14), a big thank you to T C A Srinivasa-Raghavan for writing such an interesting article by drawing on his intimate knowledge of India's central bank. I am willing to ignore slips like his statement that "A non-Hindu, by the way, is yet to be appointed after 1937", as we had RBI governors like Manmohan Singh, who kept his religion private.
We look forward to the history of monetary institutions with a focus on the RBI. The central bank has been publishing its history in great detail and the writer has been associated with this exercise in recent times. He should not withhold information which, in his perception, could be shared with the public, just because he was not able to find a "published source". After all, the RBI's own publications, which are rich in content, do not have much reach beyond economists, bankers and students. The RBI's Annual Report 2014-15, which has current governor Raghuram Rajan's touch, was almost blacked out by the media.
