IPL was conceived as business wrapped in entertainment. So, it is not surprising to see monetary and ethical transgressions mar what was originally a great idea. The time has come for the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to step in and tackle the deviations that have cropped in this sporting event. If the IPL is to graduate to a higher plane and sustain enviable standards, the BCCI has to be ruthlessly professional and even-handed and, more importantly, it should appear to be so.
