Shocked, dazed but angry, residents of Assam are yet to come to terms with the devastating serial blasts that claimed 77 lives and injured more than 400 people. The UPA has done nothing so far at all to fight terrorism and it is a shame on the part of the government. Home Minister Shivraj Patil asks us to maintain calm in spite of the fact that 64 blasts have rocked India in six months.

It is high time he quit, owning responsibility for the inept handling of the situation. Almost all major states have been hit by the bomb blasts but the UPA has been totally indifferent to the dangerous trend and is still ‘watching the situation’.

I hope that the UPA acts responsibly on this. If not, they should be prepared to sit in the opposition after the coming elections.
