This refers to the editorial “Confused and rudderless” (June 7). The government made a mistake by allowing Baba Ramdev to set up a yoga camp at the Ramlila grounds. But, as usual, it realised its mistake much later. Also, it is unfortunate that the Bharatiya Janata Party – the nation’s largest opposition party – should depend on a yoga guru to fight against corruption and government policies.
It is necessary to plug loopholes in the system that lead to the accumulation of black money. However, it is equally important for the government to clear the common man’s suspicion that it has a vested interest in not taking action to bring back black money stashed in foreign banks. Holding a special session in Parliament to debate and discuss the matter will, thus, be good for the government’s image.
