It was unbecoming of Girish Bapat, a Bharatiya Janata Party minister in Maharashtra, to tell a student convention that he too watched "video clips at night". A minister is supposed to set a good example to students and society. Bapat, with his utterance, has encouraged students to watch sleazy videos and confirmed that despite his age, he was addicted to porn.

For this utterance, the minimum deterrent expected from the BJP government in the state is Bapat's dismissal from the ministry. But we may not expect this to happen as no action has yet been taken against External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj and Rajasthan Chief Minister Vasundara Raje in connection with the Lalit Modi controversy, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the Vyapam scam, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Raman Singh in the rice scam and HRD Minister Smriti Irani in the degree certificate mess.
