This refers to Subir Roy's column "Secular arithmetic goes against BJP"(Value for Money, September 24). The Bharatiya Janata Party should learn from the recent by-poll results. The party, which recorded a landslide victory during the Lok Sabha elections, appears to be slowly losing its sheen. Its victory in the Lok Sabha elections, especially in Uttar Pradesh, was due to Narendra Modi's promise of development and his charisma. But today's voters mainly consist of youngsters who are not interested in communal politics. They are more interested in development and the creation of employment. The BJP should learn a lesson from the by-poll results and put its communal cards on the back seat.
