The decision to have the IPL matches outside India is a good one since the dates clashed with the elections, and shifting them to next year (the next available slot in the cricketers’ schedule) would have clashed with the next season. Of course this means the organisers will have to re-market the matches differently — crowds in the UK, for instance, cannot possibly match those in India.
The Commonwealth Games authorities should take a cue from this and begin scouting for alternative venues since it is extremely unlikely Delhi will be able to complete the necessary work on the stadia and other buildings on time.
