With the Food Security Bill, the UPA seems to have decided to make Indian citizens more dependent on it instead of making them more independent. There is no reason to think the new law will enable food to reach the targeted beneficiaries. Why doesn’t the government spend on productive schemes and projects that will generate regular employment, which will, in turn, benefit farmers and the consumers in the long run?
