Most politicians think that global warming is something that will take place in the next generation’s lifetime. Which is why precious little gets done. Surinder Sud (‘Tackling global warming’, April 21), however, makes it clear that global warming is already here. He says that production of critical crops like wheat are suffering on account of global warming and the rise in mean temperatures. Unless new seeds and agricultural practices are adopted, India’s food production will fall. With growing population, this will mean rising prices. It is high time our political leaders realised the global scourge will affect us as well.
