This refers to "Bad news for Bombay" (February 17). The Central Board of Film Certification, in its wisdom, has compiled a compendium of cuss words that are not acceptable, at least for now, in films any longer. Strangely, Bombay features on this list. Bombay is a familiar term and has been used for centuries, even though the city is now officially called Mumbai. The High Court continues to be designated as the Bombay High Court like its counterpart, Madras. So are many institutions like Bombay Dyeing. Would use or reference to these names constitute a cuss word and so proscribed?
