It is to his credit that Narendra Jadhav (‘Caste in different roles’, August 11) has not used his caste card and has not fallen prey to the wooing of various political parties. Jadhav has had a brilliant career and he has not got there because of caste reservation, he has got there because of his hard work and academic background. It would have been nice if the writer had got Jadhav to talk of whether he himself faced discrimination — it is unfortunate his ancestors had to have a pot around their necks to make sure their spittle never touched the ground and brooms tied to their waist to wipe out their footprints, but that was in the past.
