This refers to A K Bhattacharya’s column “Look beyond Lok Pal” (August 30). The author has rightly highlighted the need to look at measures that should be initiated for preventing corruption. The genesis of the Anna Hazare movement is in the government’s brazen unwillingness to prevent corruption. Although many preventive measures could have been taken all along, vested interests were able to milk the system for their personal or party’s benefit and dodged all calls for reforms. Is the establishment now likely to sit up and start doing something?
