This refers to the report “UPA-Oppn rift widens on PAC report on 2G scam” (June 29). It is not surprising that interested parties are trying hard to bury the Public Accounts Committee (PAC) report on the 2G scam. They are the same people who first questioned the need for the PAC to go ahead with its enquiry on the 2G scam, especially after a Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) was constituted to investigate the same issue. Now that the PAC has spent considerable time, money and effort in making the report, rubbishing it on claims of technical and legal flaws is inappropriate. The burden of arriving at a consensus or producing the report on time cannot be solely put on the PAC’s chairperson and the committee should own up to collective responsibility in this regard. The minimum the PAC can now do is transfer the information it has with supporting evidence to the JPC.
