The article “Guru or seth?” (June 18) was a piece of yellow journalism. It did not have enough facts to draw any conclusion. Neither did it reflect any balance and seemed to target Hindu and Sikh gurus. The Pope of the Roman Catholic Church lives in a palace and has a life of luxury, while Hindu gurus live simple lives despite the money they seem to control. Islamic funding in India, too, is huge and the lives of the mullahs are not spartan either. In fact, Hindu gurus should be credited for preaching universal peace and encouraging healthy lifestyles. The authors of the article seem ignorant of the spiritual culture of India.
