With reference to “Reading the signals”, it is disturbing that according to the human resource development ministry, only 10 states have notified the rules with respect to the Right To Education Act, which came into effect a year ago. The other bitter truth is that there is a shortfall of around 14,00,000 teachers in the country.

Private sector players should be encouraged on a larger scale in the country’s educational system. Besides, the public sector should be given a new lease of life because it provides affordable education to many. Besides, it is very important to ensure a fair fee structure in the Indian educational system.
