Bhupesh Bhandari's column "Women in command?" (White Knight, January 30) highlights the stark reality of gender equality in our country. It is true that business families in India are more worried about some perceived 'value destruction' of the wealth created by the patriarch if the same is passed on to the daughter, who in a way makes way for the son-in-law's intervention in closely-guarded family matters. However, there is a change underway in the middle-class population of this country, wherein more and more cases, daughters are sharing equal partnership in the family wealth - business or property.
