This refers to Indulekha Aravind’s article “Troubled space” (February 4). More than the clash of personalities between the two leading figures in the Antrix-Devas issue, it is pertinent to note how another venerable institution is at the mercy of petty politicking and the absence of oversight under the Manmohan Singh government. Be it the army (the chief’s age row), telecom (the 2G scam) and now the leaked communication about barring Madhavan Nair from future assignments, the government is in perpetual foot-in-mouth mode. Now it is adopting a reconciliatory approach towards Nair. Is this governance? Why doesn’t Manmohan Singh simply vacate his position and offer it to Pulok Chatterjee who seems to be actually doing some work?
