This refers to the editorial "Rescuing Infosys" (June 2). The current board of Infosys must have deliberated for long hours before taking the bold decision of recalling Narayana Murthy. While it does show lack of confidence in the company's present CEO, we must acknowledge that the board took a timely decision - probably before the situation went out of even Murthy's well-thought and judged corrective actions.

This situation is similar to the Indian family tradition of young ones seeking advice from the experienced seniors like grandparents and parents, who are aware as to what could have gone wrong or what could be the most effective corrective measure. Although we may debate on the "indispensibility" of a person, there is no denying that to save a family from ruins, even now, it is the eldest ones in India on whom the responsibility is bestowed, and they, too, do it with a lot of enthusiasm and with overwhelming success.
