There is no doubt that P Chidambram is a hardworking minister. He has shown his charisma in finance by providing one stimulus package after another to cure the financial system suffering from the liquidity crisis precipitated by the global turmoil.
Again, handling the home portfolio now, he has shown himself to be of a different make from his predecessor, Shivraj Patil. In such a short period, he has changed the image of the government by calling meetings of key persons and sending instructions to state governments to curb the activities of local mafia, criminals and extorters who are directly or indirectly supporting terrorists based in foreign countries.
Similarly, Manmohan Singh, supported by the able Pranab Mukherjee, has achieved remarkable success in mobilising the support of the international community in targeting Pakistan and making enough ground for attacking Pak- or PoK-based terror camps if the government there fails to keep its commitment of stopping all terror activities from its soil.
