The Adarsh housing society episode in Mumbai has brought up two stunning revelations. One, real estate prices in Mumbai have shot up; and, two, the stature of our politicians and even a few of the Army top brass has sunk.
We can only wonder how low the coterie of vested interests in the nation’s Capital will stoop to manipulate the upcoming allotments in the Commonwealth Games village and flats in Vasant Kunj. Human frailty being what it is, here, too, the “Adarsh” story will be repeated, without compunction. These flats, built for a national event using taxpayers’ money, rightfully need to be thrown open to all Indian citizens and without any quotas.
