The present “pre poll” alliances and the emergence of the Third Front as a “viable alternative” should not make the BJP unduly alarmed. The party has to focus on its Hindutva agenda for all practical purposes because that is what is going to get the real voter out to vote for it.

Advani has been associated with a ‘hardline’ Hindutva stance and the demolition of the Babri Masjid. This is, perhaps, a failure of the BJP as it has not been able to communicate it’s ideology effectively.

A person with a no-nonsense attitude like Narendra Modi is the greatest asset to BJP in these times of uncertainty. He needs to be given a greater role in the party for communicating the idea effectively.

In such times, the BJP should introspect its ‘core ideology’ instead of bothering about the fair-weather alliance partners who will desert the BJP like rats in a sinking ship.
