This refers to Mihir S Sharma’s column “The PPP nation” (Policy Rules, September 8). I am not convinced with the writer’s suggestion that we should have a regulator from the private sector to oversee private sector players. The nation will be better off trusting civil servants to safeguard our natural resources, public assets and public revenues. Britain, where the concept of public-private partnership first originated, sends its civil servants to Said Business School of University of Oxford to train them to interact with the private sector. We, too, should look at equipping our civil servants with superior skills in risk assessment.
