Apropos the reports “SC rejects plea to defer Ayodhya case verdict” and “High Court verdict to be delivered on Sept 30” (September 29), it needs to be kept in mind that the Ayodhya issue attracts not only national but also international attention. India’s response to the decision will indicate whether it is a mature nation or not. It is, therefore, the responsibility of all religious, political and non-political organisations as well as every individual that the court verdict is honoured and peace and order are maintained. The winners and losers in the verdict must be kept at bay and strictly refrain from jubilant celebrations or frenzied demonstrations. We have to affirm our commitment to the rule of law.
