The editorial, "Losing credibility" (December 10), was a balanced and well-written piece. What moral right does the Congress have to accuse the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party of political vendetta over a court summons issued to Congress President Sonia Gandhi and Vice-President Rahul Gandhi? Is it implying that the judiciary is siding with the ruling party? Whatever be the issue, the Congress should respect the system.

I vividly remember the raids conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation and the Enforcement Directorate on Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy's properties and business interests barely a month after he quit the Congress to form his own party, the YSR Congress Party.

Even if the Congress believes the judiciary was pressured to issue the summons, they can raise the issue in Parliament for a fruitful discussion. If the party wants to make a comeback in the Assembly elections in the next two years, its members should adopt other methods to call the "bluff" of the BJP instead of wasting public money by disrupting Parliament proceedings. By doing so they are making a mockery of the system and challenging the common sense of the public.

I hope better sense prevails on Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi and other senior leaders of the party.
